4 Luxury Family Friendly Resorts

We’ve all heard the sentiment, “You have 18 summers with your children, make them count.” This hard truth resonates now more than ever.

Given our recent circumstances, the opportunity to celebrate milestone birthdays, take the multi-generational vacation, or even gather together to grieve lost loved ones has vanished from our grasp.  That open and empty hand has allowed us to receive a gift. The understanding that time waits for no one. And if not now, when?

With the phased re-openings of our National Parks and Caribbean borders, my family and I assume, yours are experiencing a stirring… A readiness to dust off OR obtain those passports and claim a freedom we have lost or the connection we’ve missed.

If I could leave tomorrow here is where I would go to do just that…

The Resort at Paws Up, Montana

No passport required but a sense of adventure and exploration must be keen. The Resort at Paws Up delivers luxury camping along the Black River in a high end family tent outfitted with separate sleeping quarters for the kids and heated floors! All of your ranch to table meals are included and you will be ready to put on the feed bag. Trout fishing, cattle driving, ropes coursing, and breathtaking hikes are just some of the activities you will experience in this remarkable American Treasure. And the newly added perk of complimentary kids club access kicks it up a few notches for the time you need to reconnect with your thoughts, alone.

Montage Kapalua Bay

This Maui resort is nothing short of  fabulous  Multi-generational families are a natural fit for this property since the accommodations are expansive and the views amazing. The Kapalua Beach itself is not as spacious but makes up for that with protected spectacular  snorkeling. Enjoy the serenity of  a family paddle boarding adventure or take a plunge in one of the three tiered pools. Al fresco dining, live music, and a heavy dose of Hawaiian Seafaring Culture give this boutique family resort the edge. * Hawaii extended its COVID-19 state of emergency until July 31 so out-of-state travelers who land in the island state must undergo a self-imposed 14-day quarantine.*  We may not go this summer, but we will go!

AMANGIRI, Utah

This ultra luxury resort made the list simply because it is exceptional. Located in the remote canyonlands of Utah, Amangiri has the most colorful sunsets anywhere! The resort is built into the ancient landscape so that it blends into the rock that changes color all day from ochre, deep peach, and burnt orange through the day. The Mesas and Canyons give true homage to the words awesome and adventure. The privileged access to surrounding National Park and Lake Powell will fill your days with hiking and riding and the gorgeous dining with locally Native American dining will have you peacefully dreaming. Not your typical family resort but an indulgent experience to remember for all ages.

Jumby Bay, A Rosewood Resort, Antigua

Antigua is open to all visitors! Jumby Bay is a private 300 acre Island accessible only by boat. NOT A CAR around but plenty of bikes to cruise this coast. The rooms and villas total only 40 so it is an incredibly intimate experience where everyone knows your name and greets you with a familiarity. Everything you can imagine is included on this Eden. While there’s a complimentary ferry service that runs all day to the “Big Island”,  truly there is no reason to leave. The Jumby Explorers program gives our little ocean adventurers the opportunity for discovery and independence and Mom and Dad peace of mind.
