The Butterfly Effect

“Just when a caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.” Chuang Tzu

Did you know the life span of monarch butterflies is between two to six weeks?
Considering this pinnacle phase of their life comes fourth in the cycle, that’s not a lot of time to spread their wings and soar. Monarchs are also brilliant migrants, as they always know the right direction to fly.

The pace and timing of the monarch butterfly’s annual migration is a true mystery.
Researchers believe they have an inbuilt biological compass that allows them to sense the direction of the Earth’s magnetic field and is triggered to follow the shining sun.

But this beautiful transformation and innate wisdom did not come easy, it was only after the crisis of the necessary and uncertain chrysalis phase…

Now, I know what you might me saying… The chrysalis stage only lasts 14 days!
This stay at home order has surpassed that expiration date.
It is true. This is hard and there is not an end in sight.
All of the normal distractions, constant noises, and ego considerations are quieted.
We have nothing left to do but surrender to this uncomfortable but evolving, unfolding, maturing, and perfecting phase so we can take to the skies when the time is right.

And we all want to fly again, preferably in the window seat with a view!

While we wait, here are some positions of the sun in some of my favorite destinations to fix your inner compass and forward flight…
